We All Scream For Ice Cream
I thought I’d write an ice cream poem
Since searchers search the net
For I scream, you scream, we scream poems –
Has one been written yet?
Well, if there’s not, there should have been,
In many flavors, too,
Because the screaming that’s been screamed
For ice cream verses grew
From just a single voice that pined
For plain vanilla verse
To many, thirty-three and more,
The flavor universe.
You scream; I scheme to write the poem;
I labor long and tweak,
And as I penned my little poem,
I pondered this past week:
As I scream, you scream, we all scream
For ice cream verses sweet,
I wonder if our screamings turn
From verse to actual treat.

I want ice cream now.
Cute poem
I looked at the picture as I chose it to illustrate the poem and the texture of the ice cream and that swirl on top that is dangling down invites and even demands a quick lick! And another one, and….
mmmm – yummy
Nice! You are such a talented poet. I especially loved the last line “From verse to actual treat”. I love strawberry ice cream. Are there really that many flavors? Keep up the poetic work. By the way I have another poetry post called “Haikus For HER: Bitter Perspectives”. I would appreciate any comments from a talented poet.
Thanks for your kind words above. In the U.S. (don’t know where you’re from), we have an ice cream chain called Baskin Robbins which advertises 33 flavors. So, that’s why I used that number. I read your new ones and liked them all. I looked for a place for comments, but couldn’t find it. Didn’t I comment once before? Maybe it was just a vote. Anyway, I voted again and subscribed. I especially liked the phrase “Midol heaven”, and the turn in the last line of “Bad Hair Day”. Again, I enjoyed them all.
Thank you so much! It means a lot coming from someone like you. It wasn’t a joke when I said that I did not do well in those English classes. Oh sorry about that It’s the stupid bubble/call out looking thing in the corner at the top of the post. No I’m from the US, but I go to Marble Slab instead – they didn’t have that many flavors. Poetry is not easy that’s for sure.
Hail and well met… at last, oh venerable Bard
I trust you are well and the that the Muse is strong with you young jedi?
*chuckle*
It is a pleasure to be here.
Kind regards,

I read the other one first and then jumped over here. I think I like this one more (both good, of course), and I most definitely like this picture better. I could almost lick the screen.
And that just now reminded me: I saw a picture the other day entitled “Generation Gap.” It was of a woman (about 65 years old) sitting in an office — at a desk — in front of her computer. She was using white-out on her computer screen. I laughed until I almost rolled in the floor. Nothing to do with ice cream, of course, but thinking of licking the screen brought it all back to me. There has to be a poem in that picture, don’t you think? I’ll try one if you will.
And now that idea just reminded me of something else. A short while back I wrote a poem about “writing,” which I enjoyed thoroughly — enjoyed writing it — well … enjoyed reading it too as a matter of fact. Anyway, I remember that after I posted it, the thought occurred to me, “I think the ‘Bard’ would enjoy this. I need to send him the link.” But then I never did. So — although I almost never do this — I am going to stop right here, hop over to that site, and grap the link to post in this comment. Wait here:

Several of my poems are scattered throughout the site, but a lot of them are re-posted on the actual Poetry page. So I’ve just sent the link to that page, since the poem I’m referring to “The Writer Writes,” is the first thing on there. Hope you get a kick out of it when you get time to check it out. (You’ll understand after reading it why the two people who do almost all the editing of my books thought it was terrific.)
Enjoy your ice cream!!!
