The Mark
Is this the life I’ll lead for You –
An arrow, balanced, sharp and true,
Honed and shaped and made to fly
Straight at the mark in the Master’s eye?
If that’s the life I’ll lead for You,
Take out Your knife and make me true.
Whittle wisely at the waste
Till all that’s left are the lines You’ve traced.
If that’s the life I’ll lead for You,
I’ll take the pain to make me true.
Prune and pare me; make me fly
Straight at the mark in the Master’s eye.

One of your best, IMO.
noble, beautifully written!
I agree with what’s already been said. One of your best.
Thanks to all who have commented thus far. It’s sometimes surprising to me which of my poems is liked best. I have my favorites and sometimes they aren’t the favorites of my readers. Sometimes they are.
Yes, well written Bard.
