Honey!
For those times
When you shrink the kids –
Small bouquet.

Set To Crow At Dawn
White rooster
With red cocky comb
Against black.
Phoenix
From ugly,
And life’s brokenness
Comes beauty.

* The haiku I write are lines of 3-5-3 syllables instead of 5-7-5.
See Haiku article here for explanation, if needed: http://thebardonthehill.wordpress.com/2011/08/08/haiku/

The second one is what I would definitely call, “painting with words.” And that third one is super — and a great encouragement for people. Of course, that’s not to say I didn’t like the first one. I did, but it just didn’t pack the power of the other two.
One of my haiku that I like the best is the one about birth, out of darkness into light. I think it’s because of the picture. The three today I don’t like nearly as well. (Oh, should I say that?)
I love the third one. What a wonderful thought
And the wonderful part is that it’s so often true.
