February 29
One year in four has extra day,
A way of making one
From extra fourths Earth on its way
Took going ’round the sun.
Catching up, all surely need,
So here’s what I propose:
A day for all of no new deed,
Just bring the old to close.
We all have fourths or fifths undone,
A stack of things to do.
Let earthlings be like Earth this one
Day, and be caught up too.
I’ve looked around; I’ve made my list
Of old chores piled in heap;
And out of all things in my fist,
I’ll catch up first – on sleep.

Why do the good old traditions die out? Good one Dennis.
I like that very much, as I’ve said before a gentleman’s first and foremost duty must always be the pursuit of absolute leisure wot…!
The other reason I like the twenty-ninth of February is I can, like last night, ring a sixteen year old nephew and wish him a happy (in this case fourth) birthday…
Good work Dennis.
Regards,
T.
Best solution to the Leap Day question yet! Good night from me!
And, ironically, I did sleep an hour later that morning, something I very rarely do. 🙂
Wonderful! Now, to actually catch up!
I like this, Dennis. I never seem to get enough sleep these days. The old tradition says that I could go out on that “extra” day and catch me a man — like your picture suggests — but I think I actually NEED your tradition more. Sleep will win out for me.
