A Penny For Your Thoughts
As I was walking, deep in thought,
I saw a penny on the ground.
I stooped to pick the copper up;
Erect, the thought could not be found.
Oh, well. It happens all the time.
As I grow older, thoughts oft fly
As fast as quail burst from their walk,
As far as rockets pierce the sky.
At least this time, the shiny cent,
The cause I chanced to come across,
Is parked still in my pocket, safe,
And I have payment for my loss.

Very nice job on the poem, Bard — as usual. But I have to admit that my attention was caught by the penny. What kind of penny is that? I don’t have any that look like that.
Thanks. I’m not sure what kind of penny that is. I was looking for one of a Lincoln cent, but didn’t find one. I chose this one because “one penny” was clearly visible. 🙂
That reminds me that there’s another great site for free photos, and he has two or three pictures of pennies — just in case you need more. But I don’t think those pictures show the words “one cent” clearly. I’ll give you the link, though, just in case you’ve never visited there, because he’s a great photographer, and everything he has is free for any use by anyone. Here’s the site:

Thanks for the link. I finally got around to looking at the site and there are some beautiful pictures there. I’ll be using some. Thanks again.
Thoughts have a nasty habit of falling out the top of the head. I have to admit I’m old enough to remember pennies
Here in the U.S., we still have them, though it costs more than a cent to make them and though there have been discussions about getting rid of them.
Hey clever.
Thanks. At least those of us with “old-timer’s” can be paid for it every once in a while. 🙂
