I wish right now was the best of times
…That I ever spent with you.
I’d like to do it over again
…Like the dawn desires the dew.
For Christmas brings back the memories
…Of both days and friends gone by,
An open album we look into
…Within our heart-minds and sigh.
But since the “now” is the open page
…Let’s all remember the “then”,
While writing in this Christmas time
…A most merry one again!

Great sentiment. I find myself wishing I could re-live some of those past Christmases, but lately I’ve been reminding myself that I’m responsible for living today to the best of my ability and that longing for the past is counter-productive to successful living now.
Thanks. Yes, dwelling on the past can cause problems. My closing stanza fits with what you said about living today. 🙂
Yes, I thought the poem could be describing just what I’ve been experiencing.
