He tried a bit; that was enough.
…He rested on his laurels.
He liked a life that’s smooth, not rough –
…No struggles and no quarrels.
Then enemies o’er ran the line,
…Won ev’ry single battle.
The innocents that he’d called “mine”
…Were slaughtered like mere cattle.
For when so wicked is the foe,
…It’s not for peace they’re suing.
Annihilation’s all they know,
…One’s whole and last undoing.
