His height made him great ’round the basket.
But sadly, poor Wilt blew a gasket.
…Dismayed by his death,
…We all held our breath –
Would Chamberlain fit in a casket?

……3/31/28 – 6/10/16
The Man, the Legend, Number 9 –
…On ice, superior.
By him, a forward we define –
…Smooth power in a blur.
He was complete in ev’ry way;
…His was the rink to roam.
When Mr. Hockey died that day,
…The puck slid to its home.

His arm made baseballs that he threw
…A bb size with bullet speed.
They’d zip to home and pop the mitt
…Until the ump “strike three!” decreed.
That was his fastball, and his curve
…Was lightning fast and had a hook
That many hungry anxious fish
…Thought they could bite, but they mistook.
And e’en his trip to Cooperstown
…Might e’en the quickest record yield.
The only time he wasn’t fast
…Was walking slowly off the field.
