If you can keep your leaves when all about you
Are losing theirs, though you be doubting too;
If you can trust yourself through their disaster
And hold yours fast while theirs are falling faster;
If you’ll just wait and not be tired of waiting,
Endure the Fall and Winter’s cold berating,
Then in the end the world will see you’ve won –
They’ll know that you’re an evergreen, my son.
