Just Desserts
In nations where a vote is cast,
The wicked sometimes rule.
Unlike the cream that rises up,
It sometimes is a fool.
But one may ask from whence they came,
Those leaders: dolt or brute.
They’re surely from another tree
That bears a foreign fruit.
Peer closely at the populace,
At all who cast a vote.
There must be some to pin this on;
There’s someone who’s the goat.
But when we take a look around,
We find no gremlins, elves.
One has a wicked leader when
We are that way ourselves.

Tellin’ it like it is! Great job , Dennis!
I love your snow. Where did you get it? Can I get some for my Christmas blog?
Thanks. You saw my snow before I did!!! WordPress did it last year all during the month and I guess they turned it on again this morning after I published this last poem. I suppose it’s automatic on WordPress if you had it last year. I can’t remember if one has to click something to get it or to click something if they don’t want it. Whichever way it is, last year’s choice has been continued.
Hmmm. I don’t have any. I’ll see if I can find something to click.
That thought made me laugh, because I immediately thought of an old Andy Griffith show where Aunt Bea says she feels faint, and Barney gets all in a nervous dither, jumps around from side to side, and says, “Oh … no … you can’t do that! We’ve got to loosen somethin’! You got anything we can loosen?”
Hurray!!! I now have snow on my Christmas blog! The settings page says it should fall until January 4 — just in case you were wondering about yours.
Great! We don’t get a lot of snow here; conditions have to be just right. So I need a lot of snow falling on my blog and wherever else it can be generated. 🙂 And a smile for ol’ Barney, too. Loved that show.
The problem with democracy is that it assumes that the majority have some brains ( I think I’m getting cynical in my old age). No snow on my blog, it was 40 degrees C the day before yesterday – that’s 104F.
That would be an interesting widget or whatever it would be called – to have a thermometer on our blogs that showed the temperature where we are – or maybe just the high and low for the day.
Yes, that’s a big problem in the U.S. now. The big cities where Democrats are winning many states have many pockets of ignorance and poverty, laziness and crime. One woman received a phone or something from a government handout that Obama created. When she asked where it came from, she said, “From Obama’s private stash.” I really do think we’re doomed as a nation.
