Sonnet 26 – The Truly Wicked One
We recognize some monsters that are men
By quantity of their iniquity –
A Hitler or a rabid Ted’s foul den:
Mass murdering or serial – beast be.
And, too we deem a devil by degree –
‘Tis worse, somehow, to kill a child than man;
Dismemberment – our senses seem to see
In category of a madman’s clan.
But one can turn a screw and pain by inch;
Abuser, nag, can carve in tiny chops;
A word or act can cause a heart to wrench;
An overwhelming flood is fed by drops.
Not huge all things that hurt men and estrange
But truly wicked sees and does not change.

sometimes when I feel down I just imagine being a jew during WWII
There was no escape for so many. 😦
