–
I go to sleep upon the stairs,
…Though I am in my bed.
I must descend the steps of cares
…To lands where dreams are bred.
I later rise from on the stairs,
…Though I am in my bed.
I blink awake from dreams and snares,
…And upward slowly tread.

I’ve had some of those experiences of blinking awake from dreams and snares and was glad to have to get up. But, on the other hand, I’ve wakened in the midst of dreams that were the seeds of whole novels, and they led to my selling books. So sometimes those hassling dreams can be worthwhile.
Yes, I’ve had some good dreams of that nature, too. When I said snares, I wasn’t thinking specifically of troubling dreams, but just the cobwebs we sometimes have to clear to climb the steps to being alert and wide awake. 🙂
Good one Dennis.
